How it works
Starting with the Ipswich area, we have, over the last few months, been taking thermal images of thousands of properties. These images have been taken using vehicles fitted with sophisticated thermal imaging cameras and equipped with GPS satellite tracking accurate to within ½ metre. By surveying on the move, each vehicle is capable of taking up to 1,000 images per hour and linking them to the property addresses.
Each colourful image shows where a property is losing valuable heat. The areas of a property that are most vulnerable to heat loss show up in vivid yellows and reds. This enables the homeowner to pinpoint exactly where they can best direct their efforts to make their homes more thermally-efficient.
